STEPS!!!!!

It's been way longer than I would like since I've blogged, but it's the hectic-ness of our life right now. However, today calls for the time out to record the first steps.

BECKETT TOOK 4 STEPS TODAY!!!!!

His baby-sitter called to tell me that during therapy our amazing, odds-defying, stubborn, little flirt took steps several times today during therapy. I screamed, cried, laughed, and shared the news! I think I almost feel just as excited today as when he was born, or we were able to hold him for the first time, when he came home from the hospital, rolled over, crawled, pulled up...and now steps!

Beckett is doing so well it is absolutely amazing! He is saying new words every day and becoming quite the daredevil. We are continuing to work on his core strength so he is more stable when standing and therefore will increase his ability to walk.

LOVE our life with the amazing things we are blessed with. 16 months and this boy is stealing my heart every day.

Next hurdle...actually walking and getting a clear report on December 7 when we have a CT and appointment with Dr. Moriarty to make sure all is well with the shunt.

I'll Keep Getting Stronger

If what I am is what's in me
Then I'll stay strong
That's who I'll be
And I will always be the best
Me that I can be
There's only one me
I am it
Have a dream
I'll follow it
It's up to me to try

Oh, imma keep my head up high... HIGH!
Keep on reachin' high... HIGH!
Never gonna quit
I'll keep gettin' stronger.

And nothins gonna bring me down... No!
Never gonna stop gotta go... Go!
Because I know
I'll keep gettin' stronger.

And what I Am is THOUGHTFUL.
And what I AM is MUSICAL.
And what I AM is SMART.
And what I AM is BRAVE.
And what I AM is HELPFUL.
And what I AM is SPECIAL.

There's nothing I can't achieve
Because in myself I believe in love

Gonna keep our heads up high... HIGH!
Keep on reachin' high... HIGH!
Never gonna quit
Just keep gettin' stronger.

And nothins' gonna bring us down... No!
Never givin' up gotta go... Go!
Because I know I'll keep gettin' stronger.

What I AM is SUPER.
What I AM is PROUD.
What I AM is FRIENDLY.
What I AM is GROUCHY.
What U are is MAGICAL.
What U are is SPECIAL.

There's nothing I can't achieve
Because in myself I believe in NO
Gonna hold my head up high
Keep on reachin' high
I'm never gonna stop
I'll keep gettin' stonger.

Nothins' gonna bring me down
Never givin' up
Gotta go
Yeah...
I'll keep gettin' stronger.

Our TV Star!

Two new commercials for Kosair Children's Hospital starting airing this week and I got the okay from the Marketing Director to post. So here they are for those not living in the Louisville, Kentucky area.
Each one of the children featured all have success stories...
Our Beckett of course...Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
Coral (featured)...suffered a stroke.
Erica...when she was 2 her mother was killed. In that event, Erica was shot in the head. Dr. Moriarty (our neurosurgeon too) took care of her and she was an amazing little girl with a very outgoing personality.
There were a couple of children with cancer.
The others had varying other issues that they have overcome.

It was an awesome experience to be part of something so big.

Hope you <3 love <3 them as much as we do!

Paisley Does Preschool

Paisley's first day of preschool went very well today, thank goodness!

Rodney and I were both able to go to work late today and both got to take her. I am so happy about this! I didn't think it was that big of a deal. But then she just hopped right out and marched in with her little bumble bee backpack bouncing down the sidewalk. We had our little tearful moment after she walked in. Hard stuff being a parent and watching your babies grow up.
<3 that baby girl!

We had a little interview after school today. Here it is...

How did you feel this morning? I felt happy about going to preschool.
Who took you to preschool today? Mommy and Daddy.
What did Mrs. Head say when you were walking in? Welcome to preschool. Everyone is waiting for you.
What did you think of Mrs. Head? She was nice. She helped us play a little fishing game. It was hard and I can’t do it by myself yet. There was another big person there but I don’t know her name. I’ll ask her on Thursday.
Who were the other kids at preschool with you? Lillian, Carson, Rachel, Dawson. What are the other names? Hmmmm. Tell me!
What did you do first? We comed in. We sat on the floor. We stood on a black line. We went to the bathroom...big girls bathroom. There was a boys bathroom too.
I didn’t need any help in the bathroom. We had to wash our hands.
We played with a little kitchen. Like mine, but not my kitchen.
And then what?
We goed and played. We walked on buckets and played with big bouncy balls with handles. We bounced until we fell. We hit our heads and it hurted really bad but we didn’t cry.
What did you do next?
Lillian had to feel the weather outside. It was sunny and it was daytime. I had a job too. I turned the arrow to the bear that looks like the sun. A boy named Carson had to turn it to the bear that looks like he was in the rain. (??)
We learned about the days. We sang a little song…insert her singing the days of the week song. :)
And then we went to a little drink store and got kool-aid. No one wanted water, everybody just wanted koolaid. We didn’t drive there, just walked.
And then...
Lined up.
We colored a picture, colored in the lines, made our little can (Pringles can for notes back and forth) and even got to put stickers on it.
And then we lined up.
And then we leaved. That’s all I did. Lori picked me up because you were at school and Daddy was at work.
Are you ready to go back on Thursday? Yes I am!

OH my goodness! Sounds like she had a wonderful time!

What I Love About Sundays

Church. Dinner. Homework for me. Naps. Family fun.

Ended the evening with a highly competitive Toy Story 3 memory game after Beckett went to bed.
The princess demanded Oreos and milk too...we gave in!

July Weekend

Busy but fun weekend at the Crosier house this weekend!

On Friday Paisley, Beckett and I joined Leslie and Noah, and Mickey and Landon for some bouncy, jumpy, exhausting fun! Very few pictures because we were way to busy chasing and containing! We even ventured to McDonald's for lunch. Must do it again soon or maybe without kids sometime soon too!

Landon and Noah from the back.

Paisley and Landon

Friday night...Aladdin with Paisley.

Saturday we went to look at a new vehicle. We absolutely were not planning on buying anything, just looking at our options. Wouldn't ya know...we fell in love! We drove it for the weekend and signed the papers tonight! LOVE our new van!

Sunday was Ol' Mamaw's 70th birthday! We went to the Galt House for brunch after church to celebrate.

Beckett's gigantic plate...full of food when he started eating. Completely empty when he was finished!

Sunday night we went to the Harrison County Fair Parade. Paisley loved it and collected lots of candy. Beckett screamed most of the time thanks to sirens and loud red-neck vehicles. Poor guy. He did like the horses at the very end. :)

Busy, busy, busy...wouldn't have it any other way!

Sweeeeeet Corn!

She demolished 2 entire ears of corn and really wanted more! She is her Pop's granddaughter, that's for sure!

Beckett tried some too! Pretty messy, but it sure was fun!

Fun with Uncle Jordan! Silly ones!

From the Backside

Beckett is working SO hard! The new "big boy shoes" are helping, but standing sure is tiring. After his 12 month checkup with the pediatrician...we have until 15 months to be much more comfortable with standing and hopefully walking, or we go see ortho. We are doing what we can!

Standing...

Stand up for what you believe in!
Paisley has had the tune of the song...Standing, standing, standing on the Promises of God in her head for quite some time. I think this proves just what God and the power of prayer are capable of.

Beckett is really working on standing, working very hard during PT each week and at home while playing, but just really not loving it at all. This weekend it seems like something has kind of clicked. He is doing so much better and doesn't even cry and complain too much if he is distracted enough. Paisley does very well providing this distraction. ;)

Fortunately, we were always given very positive outlooks for Beckett's future and walking was in it from "diagnosis day." Our perinatologist felt confident from the first ultrasound that his defect was low enough AND then after his closure surgery we were told there was very little to no nerve damage...all pleasant things in the world of Spina Bifida. We know it is possible he may need supports of some sort, but right now there has been no mention of it. He is doing well and learning to stabilize his ankles and do a little repositioning on his own. For just turning one this week, I think we are doing just fine.

A few others from our holiday weekend...

The best they could do. :( They look cute though. Stinkers.

Praising God for miracles, an amazing healthcare system, and outstanding doctors.
